Parents: We have closed practices so we ask that you drop your swimmer off at the pool and do not sit in the stands. We have a lot of work to do before our season starts!! The athletes will show you what they can do at our meets! Thank you for your understanding. We will send home information about our parent meeting once we get the season underway.
- Being a member of a High School Athletic team is a FULL commitment that your student has chosen to be a part of. Please help them out by making sure they have a way to get to EVERY practice, and to EVERY meet. There are no “part-time” options in this sport.
- Please positively support and encourage your swimmer or diver throughout the season. It is tough work to be a student athlete! In swimming and diving we celebrate effort, learning, placing, and every single time improvement. You should celebrate too!
- SPORTSMANSHIP is our top priority for the team and you are part of that team. Please remember that the athletes are working hard to create a positive image for our team by cheering for and congratulating everyone including other teams, and by keeping comments and attitudes positive. We would appreciate it if team members in the stands did the same.
- Try to attend as many meets as possible, even the away meets! The more people we have cheering, the faster we swim. If sportsmanship is our first priority team spirit is our second!!! Show your support for our team by wearing your PURPLE and Gold to every meet home and away (Curtis is Blue btw).
- If you can only attend a few meets, talk to your swimmer about which ones are most important to them.
- There are multiple opportunities throughout the season for team bonding outside of practice: team dinners, football games, etc. Encourage your swimmer to be involved with the team! And then follow your own advice. J
- Coaching will only be done from the pool deck. Parents are not allowed on the pool deck. We are all very experienced coaches, please have confidence in our abilities and let us do our job.
- Please keep in mind that this is high school swim team, not a club team, they are two completely different sports, there is no way to compare the two, so please don’t try! If you are used to club swimming we hope that you will be pleasantly surprised to find that high school swimming is the dessert of the swimming world J
- Feel free to voice any concerns or comments to the coaches through a letter, email, phone call, or come in and visit us in person we are always willing to talk after practice.
- Please stay up to date with team announcements by checking our website regularly,
